Virtues and Vices
Virtues: Virtues are moral excellences or positive traits that individuals should aspire to cultivate. Examples include honesty, courage, compassion, and humility.
1. Compassion (Karuna)
2. Courage (Sahas)
3. Honesty (Satya)
4. Patience (Kshama)
5. Humility (Vinaya)
Vices: Vices are negative traits or behaviors that individuals should aim to avoid or overcome. Examples are greed, envy, wrath, and sloth.
1. Greed (Lobha)
2. Anger (Krodha)
3. Envy (Irshya)
4. Pride (Ahankara)
5. Dishonesty (Asatya)
Virtue-Driven Karma: When we cultivate virtues, we align themselves with positive karmic cycles that attract harmony, growth, and favorable circumstances. This doesn’t mean that life will be free of challenges, but virtues like compassion, patience, and humility provide tools to navigate hardships gracefully and foster resilience.
Vice-Driven Karma: Vices, on the other hand, create imbalances in our life by perpetuating negative energy that attracts difficulties, suffering, and setbacks. Acting on greed, anger, or envy creates karmic debt, leading to lessons or hardships that must be faced to balance the scales of karma.
